Day 1 Depart from USA for Turin, Italy.
Day 2 Arrival at Turin Airport. Pick up and transport to the hotel. Settle in and rest, followed by light lunch at the hotel. Visit Slow Food’s University of Gastronomic Sciences, the only university in the world dedicated entirely to the study of food culture. This will be followed by a tour and tasting at the Banca Del Vino, or Wine Bank. The Banca del Vino houses the best wines of more than 300 Italian producers, and conserves the best bottles produced in Italy. Rest before dinner at the hotel. Day 3 After breakfast at the hotel, visit Cordero di Montezemolo. Since 1920, the Cordero di Montezemolo family has owned the vast Monfalletto estate, which had previously belonged to the Falletti family of Barolo since medieval times. The estate sits on an altitude of over two hundred meters above sea level, and is dedicated exclusively to the production of Docg and Doc wines. After a tour and tasting at the winery, head to nearby Osteria Veglio for a delightful tasting menu, paired with the best wines of the area. After lunch, head to the city of Alba for a tasting of “sweets” in a test kitchen, lead by one of Alba’s best pastry chefs. After free time in Alba for shopping, head back to the hotel for a rest, before dinner at the hotel. Day 4 After breakfast at the hotel, head to Turin for a day at Slow Food’s famous food show, Salone del Gusto. Enjoy walking through the Great Hall of Taste, sampling artisan food products from all over the world. Participate in a workshop at Salone, shop, then return to the hotel for a rest. Tonight, journey to Alba, the truffle capital of Europe, to enjoy a special “truffle” dinner, paired with wines, at Alba’s Enoclub. Day 5 In the morning, head to the small city of Bra, for their weekly open air market. Shop the stalls for local products, have an espresso at the famous Café Converso, and explore the many charms of Bra. Walk down Via Mendicita, birthplace of Slow Food, where their international headquarters are located today, and dine at “Boccon di Vino,” Slow Food’s restaurant. After lunch, head to the town of Barolo, to taste wine at the enoteca housed in the town’s Castle. Next, head to the corkscrew museum, for an interesting look at corkscrews from all over the world. The 500 examples on display range from antique to modern day. Head back to the hotel for a rest before dinner at the famous “Guido Ristorante” adjacent to the hotel. Day 6 Visit Alba’s open air market in the morning, and enjoy the stylish shops of Alba while strolling the main pedestrian street. Have lunch at the Michelin starred restaurant, “La Ciau del Tornavento.” Delight in a local tasting menu paired with wines. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the Langhe from the restaurant’s terrace. After lunch, visit the town of Barbaresco, and have a leisurely drive through the stunningly beautiful Langhe before returning to the hotel for a rest. Dinner will be at the hotel, followed by an optional nighttime excursion to a club for those who like to party into the night! Day 7 After breakfast, visit the village of Cherasco, and have a special tasting of the chocolate “kisses” which put the Cherasco on the map! Mid-day, we will dine at the beautiful Villa Tiboldi, in the heart of Roero wine country. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and a panoramic view, Villa Tiboldi towers over a theatre of vineyards. Enjoy a tasting menu paired with the area’s best wines. After lunch, enjoy an ‘insider’s tour’ of a winery not open to the public. Meet the winemaker of “Conterno” and taste their fabulous wines. Return to the hotel for a rest before dinner at Pizzeria “Fuori Porta” in Cinzano. Day 8 Spend the day in Turin, with a guided tour of the city’s cultural and historical highpoints in the morning, followed by lunch at “Osteria I due Galli.” In the afternoon, visit Eataly, for shopping and more tasting and have free time to shop at the famous Linghotto mall near the Olympic Village before returning to the hotel for a farewell dinner. Day 9 Depart to Turin for return flight to US
